Are you the personality that likes goals and a successful result to show up in reasonable time?

Let me begin by saying that how you live on a daily basis is a metaphor for how you live inside. The outside dynamic mirrors the inner dynamic and as one of the biggest frustrations is related to 'when?', time is an issue to get real about.

Here's the Self Discovery Truth Test... are you a person who likes people to show up on time? Do you like what you desire to show up as you desire it and in timely fashion?

If the answer is Yes, I am this type of person then you need to make sure that you are 'on time'. I'm not talking about the rare occasion when challenges come up and though we do our best we arrive late - the exception. I'm talking about how often you are late for anything you set up (regardless of what the other party does).

How you organise, plan and keep your journeys are metaphorically speaking a mirror of how you are making your way on the journey of life.

When you have to go somewhere do you wing it, do you look it up on the map, check out the trains, buses, check the GPS has the location loaded? If you are a person who just assumes you will get there on time that is not enough. Yes, God can get us there on time and put information in our path to make sure our appointments happen but NOT unless we have demonstrated that we are serious and have done 'what we can'.

Looking at a map, timetable etc. is evidence that we 'can see and are certain that we can get there'.

Truth is that in life the way our happiness comes to us will probably not follow the 'plan' we set but we first have to demonstrate we are serious in our mind (and we see that in the evidence of our daily actions). Furthermore, the reasons we are late (if it is not an exception) are the reasons why our 'goals' are late and for many people that lateness can mean showing up after we have gone! It also shows us that seeing the route gives us 'clarity'; vagues behaviour attracts vague experiences.

Keep in mind that your life experience comes from your behaviour not what other people are doing so if you want your desires on time and want to know you can get there, treat all your appointments/meetings accordingly... and I mean even the most casual coffee with your friend.

  • Don't make vague appointments such as 'meet me around 10', be clear and be in the habit of defining so it becomes natural on a bigger scale;
  • Don't decide that you will figure it out as you go;

Personally I don't tolerate late people easily and I do everything to get to an appointment on time... if the journey is starting to look like I might be late I begin to sweat no matter how casual it might appear to the person I am meeting. My focus and doing my homework to get there on time (though in my case 8 out of 10 I am very early) is evidence that I take the situation seriously and I respect the other person's time. How we treat others is how we will be treated.

It's like running, if you focus on each 10 metres at a time you eventually run the marathon. These daily behaviours are critical and the REASON why the joy of passing that line with ephoria never materialises for some...

... and please, stop making excuses for being either late or getting lost. You are setting up all the things in your life because it suits you (so stop using the kids or your partner as an excuse without asking their permission). At the end of the day it's your joy that is coming 'late' and being 'lost' and why your dream lifestyle seems to 'disrespect' you... and don't even bother with the 'why am I like this?' nonsense, simply decide and do what it takes to be on time and to know how you are going to get there before you set off. To quote Master Yoda "Do or do not, there is no try".

Alternatively if you are a person who can honestly say you are never phased by people being late, the fridge repair guy showing up a day late or your purchases coming late then this is who you are. Simply be clear about who you are which will be made clearer by how you respond to others being late or getting lost.

So now you are clearer about who you are as regards being on time and knowing how to get there... start living it out and be excited by what can happen for you by simply being your authentic self. Life is an illusion, the solutions are never in the place you think. Be ready to be amazed.
