Stop the Bully

It's time to get rid of the bully(s) in your life

Is there a bully in your life (or three)? Fact is, this bully is truly you but I will show you how you recognise her/him and how you shut them up.

The bully is that person who doesn't let you be your self. When you take time out to love your self they criticise you or even worse they suggest that you should earn it! Ahh now you are starting to know who I am talking about.

Is it a boss, a partner, a friend, a family member... or all of them?

When you put your feet up they get upset because dinner's not ready.

When you take a vacation do they expect you to work twice as hard to catch up?

When you accept their dinner invitation do they remark on how inappropriate your outfit is (not to your face of course) and there was you thinking they just wanted to spend time with you.

How do you deal with this bully in you?

Well it starts by deciding whether you believe you deserve to be happy and free to follow your heart. If you can't agree this then the bully is setting up home.

If you decide you are entitled to a life where your needs and desires are important then deal with your bully on the outside because metaphorically speaking whomever you perceive is stopping you do what you want is simply playing out the relationship within between the real and the fraudulent you.

A simple exercise would be to imagine yourself staying in bed tomorrow or in bed for the coming week and then observe your thoughts and feelings to see where the bully comes from and what's his/her story.

What comes to mind that leaves you feeling bad or not free to do this? What have you locked your self into which is burdensome but you will bully your self into doing anyway?

If you can't take a holiday or some time out without paying a price there is something seriously wrong with your strategy. You cannot expect love to come flooding into your life until you have love flooding around on the inside...

...and how you perceive people are treating you is EVIDENCE of WHAT IS on the inside.

Being indispensable is not heroic, it is low self esteem. Make sure you organise your job so other people can do elements of your job and have access to data. Take a full day out and leave your family to take care of themselves. If you have always wanted to buy that new computer or new lamp now is the time.

Let me be clear that the lesson is not that we need to learn other people's tasks or to live selfishly but we need to keep away the victim who BLAMES us for THEIR UNHAPPY CIRCUMSTANCES; the person who wants to make your life miserable so they can feel a little better and wants to keep you working your butt off in order to justify your right to oxygen.

Facing the bully; how do I behave for a successful outcome?

When you meet this bully you need to deal with them clearly and without anger! Use your words to clarify what you want for yourself. Though we certainly do need people and we are born to actually provide service to the world, you don't owe anyone your soul but if you are neglecting your own true desires and needs neither can you blame anyone else; to imply you are being controlled is to imply you have no power and this is, in fact, non-sense...
