Frequently Asked Questions on Self Discovery

What's the difference between my 'self' and my 'ego'?

To be frank, if your desire is to be happy, understanding the difference isn't important. You may even want to challenge me and feel insistent that you need to know and that is of course your perogative, you're the boss. However I would simply encourage you to ask yourself the question, "Why is it exactly that I feel I need to know?"... please listen to the answer because unless you are planning a career in psychology, it's irrelevant really.

What is important in terms of effecting your life experience (rather than your life understanding) is that you know and recognise when you are treating yourself right and you are treating others right because that's a fundamental key to living a victorious life.

It can be very difficult for many people to understand 'how to treat people right' but that's because we are intellectualising and analysing too much. It's not that we are stupid, far from it we are phenomenally intelligent, but we are absorbing so much conflicting information that we have forgotten how to reason things out with good old-fashioned common sense.

The simplest way to figure out how to treat your self right is to observe other people's behaviour and note what you don't like based on your experience of how it feels. If you like it, it means it is something you value and vice versa.

For example, when you hear someone talking about how great they are and talking about all the amazing things they have done you will probably observe that if they are not speaking from a place of humility and wanting to be helpful and from a place of self confidence you will not like it; it will REPEL you. You will not feel attracted to listen to this person because you will feel 'disregarded', maybe invalidated or somehow inferior.

You can conclude you don't like boasting... and... knowing exactly how it feels, don't do it when around others!

However, can you congratulate and celebrate your achievements to yourself? Absolutely Yes! Even stand in the front of the mirror and pat yourself on the back for everything you feel you do well!

Likewise the opposite scenario can repel you too; the situation where you meet someone who constantly puts themselves down particularly when you compliment them. They might dismiss the compliment in favour of minimalising the compliment and you might find yourself trying to compensate by saying something like "Hey stop being so hard on yourself". It feels unattractive.

In the boasting example you feel you want to knock the person down to size and in the low self-esteem scenario you want to pull them up higher!

You are figuring out your blueprint for success

By observing your reactions whether good or bad, you are using your emotional guidance system to figure out your formula for happiness; your authentic blueprint. Whatever you like, do more of. Whatever you abhor and repells you, stop doing it!

If you simply change the one or two traits in your own life that you absolutely abhor or really admire about others this alone will move mountains. SuperMan and SuperWoman are fictitious characters. Your super qualities lie in being at peace with yourself and enjoying your life...

... so if your 'SELF' is happy or your' EGO' is happy who cares what the difference is as long as you feel great and you treat others with the same respect and freedom. It is your divine right to enjoy life and to by serving others in helping them to enjoy their life too you gain greater victory and success in the things that bring you a wealthy life.
